Funeral Flowers by Emma Dennis-Edwards was due to be performed at HMP Thameside in June, and has also since been postponed due to COVID-19. Since talking to the Library Manager we've learnt that essential services which include leisure services such as the gym and library have been shut down at HMP Thameside.
The library team are working to get hold of books and materials for the inmates where possible, and through our conversations the HMP team asked if we could call out to our creative community to submit materials that could be enjoyed by the inmates and so we decided to create a zine in collaboration with our community and the inmates at HMP Thameside.
We're looking for worksheets, poems, artwork, short stories - creative things you'd like to submit. Please be aware that the inmates may only have access to biros and pencils.
This is an unpaid opportunity, we'll be covering the cost of the zine being made, but we are not taking a fee for this work, rather responding to the needs of this request during these difficult and turbulent times.
Please send any submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org by 7th of August.
Thank you in advance
Emma Dennis-Edwards and Daisy Hale.
